Looking back at where the crit season has gone?! It's hard to believe we're 3/4 of the way through our Summer Criterium Series!

Wednesday 2nd Feb is ROUND FIVE of the women's series! B-grade gets a rest week with a BYE and everyone else is set for another action-packed night of racing with 15-20km/h wind to spice things up a little 🌶

It's CRIT NIGHT!! Feeling inspired after watching the 2022 @baycyclingclassic?!

Our 'Ken Behrens' did us proud with Benny Hill taking out the sprinters jersey in his typical attacking style. Sean Whitfield nabbed a few points for the sprint jersey & Ella Bloor finished 5th on the opening day. Our juniors also put in a great effort with Angus Withington getting 4th place in the u15's. Hayden Stevens & Bailey Macdonald (@vikingscyclingclub) lead out Eddie Marcks for 8th place after avoiding a crash near the final corner. Great riding Canberra!

The Victorian Christmas track carnivals have alway

The Victorian Christmas track carnivals have always been known as some of the best carnivals of the year. We had a small, but mighty group of juniors head down south to race.

Success for CCC’s Hannah Pettett and Ashleigh Maas at the Shepparton Christmas Track Carnival - winning the U15 and U11 Wheel races respectively. Both delivered outstanding results in the 38-degree heat on the day.

Lauren Bates also had some dominant performances. After leaving for the carnivals at 3:45am, Lauren headed down to Castlemaine for the first carnival having been cleared of COVID at midnight. The first race was getting to the start line! Having just made the 10 am carnival start time by two minutes. Lauren finished an incredible first in most of her races AND won the u17 handicap sash. Her highlight of the day was racing the u17M state championships with her partner Bailey McDonald where they came a very respectable 3rd place out of 7 men's teams!

Day two at the Bendigo brought some additional riders to the field and some more wins for Lauren AND won another sash in the U17 women handicap.

For the final day of the carnivals, Shepparton turned on the heat. With a velodrome similar to Narrabundah, Lauren continued her strong performances with some more wins and podiums. Next up is the AJTS in Melbourne!

It's time to smile because CRITS ARE BACK! What better way to get back into a routine with the return of our Wednesday evening Summer Crits?!

We have an updated calendar with an extended program, more of the women's series rounds and added BYE weeks, because who doesn't like more time on the crit track!? Please check out the updated calendar for the second half of the season as start times have changed.

A few of our juniors had a great day out racing in

A few of our juniors had a great day out racing in the sun at the Orange Track Open hosted by the Orange Cycle Club on Saturday. Representing the club were Chloe Pragt, Callum Maciver, Darcy Henwood, Will and Annika Astridge and Ashleigh Maas. All juniors took places in various events across the day culminating in the wheel race with Ashleigh (1st), Annika (2nd), Callum (2nd), Darcy (4th) and Chloe (5th) in their respective age groups. Well done to all riders!

The Carts Christmas Crits got off to a bang early

The Carts Christmas Crits got off to a bang early on, quite literally with thunder, rain, and heavy wind gusts reducing Stromlo to a less than hospitable place to spend a Wednesday evening. Fortunately, the bad weather struck early and did little to dampen the spirits of the almost 200 riders registered to compete in what has fast become Australia’s best-attended club criterium event.

A special thanks to all the sponsors who made the evening such a memorable and successful one, and without whose support, we wouldn’t be able to run such outstanding events. Wishing all CCC riders and their families a safe and relaxing Christmas and look forward to seeing you back out on track in the new year.
